My Friends,
It's been quite a while. I'm dedicating this posting to my good friend Katelynn Whitaker who is recovering in the hospital in London. I wish the best to Katelynn, one of the more faithful followers of this highly acclaimed blog, in her recovery. Ergo, my topic of the day is THINGS THAT KATELYNN LIKES:

Let's start with MARGARITAS. During the latter half of my sophomore year of college and Katelynn's first semester at USC, I had my share of Katelynn's margaritas. Can I tell you, they are delicious. I'm not sure where the recipe came from or exactly what it was but I know that it included half of a beer and a banana. Some of my favorite days ended in a knock on the door only to open it and find Katelynn and her faithful sidekicks Taylor and Lucy there with a pitcher of the delicious concoction.
Second, KNIVES. I'm not quite sure if this is quite as much of an interest of hers as it is of mine. Maybe it's just that I like her knives. A favorite pastime of mine that semester was to throw steak knives at the wall in Katelynn and Taylor's kitchen, often successful in getting them to stick. However, one night, perhaps after one too many infamous margaritas, Katelynn graciously ordered a set of RonCo knives from an infomercial that we probably watched for at least a forty five minutes until we were convinced that these were truly the best knives in the world. Ron, the host and creator of RonCo knives, demonstrated the power and utility of the number 1 knife (Showtime), by deftly slicing through a pineapple in one swipe. We were hooked after that. But not until the promise of 2 for the price of 1 and a lifetime guarantee was Katelynn convinced to call the 1 800 number. Two weeks later, both apartments had an unrivaled arsenal of cutting power. And what was one of the first things we did with our knives? Slice through the top of a pineapple, then hollow them out to make some functional and delicious cocktail cups. Oh how useful those knives have been.
Third, WATER POLO. As a seasoned athlete of water polo, I love the sport. Katelynn loves the people who play the sport. Like her roommate Taylor. And a whole bunch of people on the USC varsity water polo team. I can't speak directly to which players, but I can say that as back to back National Champions, it's hard not to love them. Katelynn has cleverly disguised her desire to photograph water polo players in speedos as a job for the Daily Trojan. Come on Kate, you're not fooling us.
Fourth, SIGMA ALPHA EPSILON. Katelynn had the privilege of living in my esteemed fraternity for the summer. To this day, I do not know how she survived. My first semester of college was spent cleaning this house and with no one to do this during the summer, I can only imagine how much worse it was. Props to any girl who could endure using a fraternity bathroom and shower for three months. I know for a fact that the Barn has never had a better occupant.
Lastly, THE DAILY ROUTINE. Katelynn was one of the earliest and most dedicated followers of this masterpiece of a blog. In fact, I believe it inspired her to keep her own while in London, An American Girl in London (Congrats Katelynn, I just upped your hits by probably 400). Katelynn was never one to let me get away with skipping a day of TDR entries. Oh how that failed miserably. Nevertheless, thanks Katelynn for your readership and I do hope that this entry will cheer you up a bit.
Cheerio. Loo. Lorry. Crisps. British words are funny.
